CK Hutchison Delays Deal to Sell Panama Canal Ports to MSC/BlackRock Consortium

By Ken Miller, Senior Transport Journalist

Hong Kong-based conglomerate CK Hutchison, led by magnate Li Ka-shing, has decided not to proceed with signing a deal next week to sell its two key ports at the Panama Canal to the MSC/BlackRock consortium, according to recent reports.

The signing of the agreement was initially scheduled for April 2, following an announcement on March 4. However, the delay does not necessarily indicate that the deal is off. Further discussions and negotiations may be ongoing as both parties work towards reaching a final agreement.
