In a move to bolster its international logistics capabilities, AIT Worldwide Logistics, a leading global supply chain solutions provider, has finalized an agreement to acquire the assets of Gsdmia, an international freight forwarder based in Miami.

Gsdmia brings extensive experience in air and ocean freight, shipping a wide range of commodities across the U.S., Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Their shipments include everything from packaging and finished goods for the cosmetics industry to commercial HVAC equipment and data servers for the cryptocurrency sector.

According to AIT’s Chief Development Officer, Ray Fennelly, who led the acquisition, Gsdmia’s team offers deep expertise in international transportation. “GSDMIA is an extremely dynamic group that shares AIT’s focus on delivering a world-class customer experience,” Fennelly said. “I’m delighted to welcome the team to our network and look forward to working together to grow AIT’s reach and service reputation across the globe.”

Gsdmia’s founders, Wenzel Lewinsky and Joao Rios, bring nearly 60 years of combined experience in global supply chain management. Previously operating as independent contractors with another large freight forwarder, they have now merged their business with AIT’s Miami office, with Lewinsky taking on the role of sales manager and Rios serving as station manager.

Lewinsky expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “AIT is a great fit, not only for our operation but, more importantly, for our customers. We’re looking forward to leveraging AIT’s expansive global network to deliver even faster, more efficient, high-quality solutions.” Rios added, “With AIT’s scale, carrier relationships, and advanced shipping technology, we can elevate the services we’re known for and provide even greater value to our clients.”

Thoughts on the Merger

This acquisition appears to be a strategic move that benefits both companies. For AIT, gaining Gsdmia’s international expertise and strong presence in Miami enhances their global footprint, especially in key markets like Latin America and Asia. For Gsdmia, joining a larger, well-established network means they can leverage AIT’s purchasing power, carrier relationships, and advanced technology to improve service offerings and operational efficiency.

Overall, this deal seems poised to strengthen both companies’ positions in a competitive global logistics landscape. By combining local expertise with a broad international platform, they are well-positioned to meet the growing demands of global trade and supply chain management.
