Major Partnership in Guyana: Inchcape and Symmetry Support Oil Industry Growth

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) and Symmetry Group Inc. (SGI) have announced a strategic joint venture in Guyana aimed at bolstering the country’s rapidly expanding oil and gas sector. This collaboration aligns with Guyana’s Local Content policies by combining the strengths of both companies to deliver an integrated, comprehensive suite of maritime and logistics services tailored to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
Under the agreement, SGI has acquired a 51% stake in ISS Guyana, bringing together SGI’s deep local expertise with ISS’s extensive global network and capabilities. The partnership is designed to generate significant value for clients while actively contributing to the development of Guyanese talent and local businesses. This move is seen as a crucial step toward supporting Guyana’s economic ambitions and positioning the country as a regional energy hub.
John Willemsen, VP LATAM at ISS, highlighted that leveraging their global service capabilities will enable the joint venture to offer exceptional maritime solutions and foster local participation. This approach aims to support Guyana’s growth in the oil and gas industry with efficiency and innovation, aligning with the country’s strategic development goals.
Kerensa Bart, President of Symmetry Group, emphasized that this partnership creates a powerful synergy—combining SGI’s focus on building local capacity with ISS’s international expertise. She underlined that the joint venture will provide seamless, world-class services designed to meet the increasing demands of Guyana’s booming oil and gas sector.
Operating as ISS Guyana, the joint venture will utilize the combined resources of both companies to offer a broad range of services, including port agency operations, customs clearance, warehousing, vessel maintenance, crew management, supply chain solutions, and crew and personnel immigration services. The initiative aims to streamline vessel handling, ensure regulatory compliance, and support infrastructure development—helping to establish Guyana as a key logistics hub within the regional energy supply chain.
