Roadrunner Implements 6.9% Rate Increase for First Time Since 2021

Roadrunner, a less-than-truckload carrier, announced on Monday its first universal rate increase since 2021. Effective Wednesday, a general rate increase (GRI) of 6.9% will be applied across various tariff codes.

The company, based in Downers Grove, Illinois, stated that this increase will affect specific lanes within its direct metro-to-metro long-haul network. While the 6.9% figure represents the average expected adjustment to base rates, the actual impact will vary for customers based on the distances of their shipments. Additionally, Roadrunner will introduce several accessorial charges.

These rate adjustments are consistent with similar changes implemented by other carriers recently and reflect the improvements Roadrunner has made in its services. Like its industry counterparts, these increases are necessary to manage rising operating expenses and support further investments in service enhancements.

“After three years without a general rate adjustment, this increase is vital for us to continue addressing our customers’ changing needs while maintaining the highest standards of service and operational efficiency,” commented Thu Vu, Director of Pricing.
