TCA Releases Statement on the Election Results

Alexandria, VA, November 6th – The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) today, released the following statement on the election results:

“Our nation has spoken, and TCA congratulates our 47th President Donald J Trump on his decisive victory in the general election. As an association, we look forward to working with his administration and the next Congress to advance the priorities that our truckload membership has identified important to keeping America moving.”

Talking with Dave Fuller, the TCA’s VP of Government Affairs, he said that the following points are of high priority to the Association and its members, and that he is hopeful that the new administration will be pushing them in the right direction.

The points are:

  • Strengthening an independent contractor business model, and pushing back on some extreme laws like California’s AB5
  • Making sense of Zero Emission policies, and repealing laws destructive to the business, like California’s executive order N-79-20
  • Reducing/abolishing unnecessary taxes, like the Federal Excise Tax (FET), a 12% tax implemented on heavy duty trucks in 1917 to help pay for World War I

The TCA is looking forward to achieving all three as soon as possible.
