Walmart Launches New 1 Million-Square-Foot Distribution Center in Jacksonville

Walmart has officially opened a new 1-million-square-foot distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida, aimed at strengthening its supply chain for Sam’s Club stores. Announced in April, the facility will serve 25 Sam’s Club locations across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Puerto Rico.
Located less than 10 miles from the Port of Jacksonville, the distribution center will handle receiving and processing goods for delivery to these stores. Additionally, it will store and sort imported goods destined for four other Sam’s Club distribution centers throughout the Southeast region, helping to streamline logistics and improve delivery speeds.
This new facility is part of Walmart’s ongoing effort to optimize its distribution network in support of the company’s growth plans for Sam’s Club. The retailer has announced plans to open 30 new Sam’s Club locations in 2025 and aims to add around 15 new stores annually moving forward. Currently, Walmart operates over 30 distribution centers dedicated to serving Sam’s Club across the U.S., with more than 370 distribution facilities worldwide under the Walmart umbrella.
In recent years, Walmart has also been adjusting its supply chain by closing some facilities—such as a fulfillment center in New Jersey—and reallocating volume to existing warehouses for better efficiency, faster delivery, and improved reliability.
