Windrose Belgian Electric Semi Truck Starts U.S. Deployment

The Windrose electric semi truck, originating from Belgium, is not just planning to enter the U.S. market — it’s already here and actively operating with U.S. customers. The company recently delivered its first all-electric, long-haul sleeper truck to JoyRide Logistics, a Phoenix-based carrier, marking a significant milestone for electric trucking in the United States.
The trucks are currently deployed across Arizona, California, and Nevada, with plans for nationwide expansion. JoyRide Logistics is pioneering the use of fully electric sleeper trucks for long-distance routes, including overnight drives, making it the first regional trucking company in the U.S. to operate such vehicles on long-haul routes.
Windrose CEO Wen Han emphasized that this isn’t just a prototype — it’s a fully operational, long-range electric truck capable of hauling freight today. The company has validated its technology globally and views the U.S. as a key market for growth.
Looking ahead, Windrose plans to begin assembly of its R700 Class 8 battery-electric tractors in Huntington Beach, California, by July 4. The company is also working to select a location for its second U.S. assembly plant, with four states under consideration, aiming to expand manufacturing capacity.
While many components are sourced from China, Han plans to establish assembly plants around the world. The Antwerp, Belgium-based manufacturer is finalizing a deal to set up a production facility in Valenciennes, northeastern France, and also intends to build facilities in China and Australia, with the goal of creating a truly global manufacturing footprint.
