Gevo’s Verity and ClearFlame Join Forces to Decarbonize Transportation

Englewood, CO – Gevo, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEVO), and its wholly owned subsidiary, Verity Holdings LLC, “Verity” announced a collaboration with ClearFlame Engine Technologies, Inc., to drive the decarbonization of freight transportation in the United States.

This collaboration will utilize ClearFlame’s patented diesel alternative technology and implement Verity’s proprietary carbon accounting software to authenticate the carbon intensity of feedstocks, such as corn sourced from US farms, as they undergo conversion into bio based ethanol, up to their consumption in ClearFlame’s fossil-fuel-free diesel engine technology.

The ClearFlame technology embeds into existing trucks, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42% and making rapid deployment possible without upsetting supply chain operations. Fueled by an abundant supply of low-cost domestic ethanol with data aggregated along the biofuels supply chain by Verity, ClearFlame trucks match or exceed pricing of traditional diesel leases while providing significant ESG savings.

“This relationship not only quantifies carbon emissions reductions but also fosters demand for low carbon intensity biofuels, potentially accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture practices and incentivizing biofuels producers to invest in decarbonization.” said Ron Zink, COO of Verity. “ClearFlame is the only engine and technology design offering the lowest cost per mile and carbon output with performance comparable to a diesel engine,” said BJ Johnson, CEO and cofounder of ClearFlame Engine Technologies. “Customers have been looking for a way to report these savings and secure emissions credits more easily. Through our partnership with Gevo, we are making tracking carbon offsets easy, effective and efficient.”

As part of this offering, customers have the potential to source carbon neutral or even net negative biofuels which have had their environmental attributes tracked through the Verity platform and which are located near ClearFlame hubs. With the use of these low carbon intensity biofuels in ClearFlame engines, customers have the potential to dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of their supply chains and have real, auditable data, not default information, to back-up their claims.

About Gevo and Verity:

Gevo is a next-generation “low carbon” fuel company focused on developing and commercializing renewable alternatives to petroleum-based products. Low-carbon fuels, such as renewable fuels, reduce the carbon intensity across their lifecycle compared to  standard fossil-based fuels. Gevo’s focus lies in developing mainstream fuels like gasoline and jet fuel from renewable feedstocks, which have the potential to significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions and enhance agricultural production. Verity Holdings (Verity) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gevo, dedicated to providing full service carbon project development through its proprietary digital MRV (Measure, Report, Verify) platform, powered by distributed ledger technology. Verity specializes in carbon accounting and services aimed at maximizing the value of environmental benefits throughout the entire supply and business system.
